BRAIN ISLAND!!!

Its an Island between Philly and the Jers. Its owned by Hugo Chvez and some other crap happened there. I don't know, haven't read the story yet. I did, however, make its foliage look like a brain...for some reason.

More Illustrations man.

I see how this is going. This blog was started to showcase design, is now predominately an illustration blog. Cool.

This little fellow was made using my new Tombow markers (Read what I have to say about those beauties here). This was just one of those, "heres what we want, who knows how it should look" deals. But I really like it. I see a bright beautiful future between me and my markers.

This illustration I knew would work for the writer in question. The idea was enough to make him laugh. This took layers on layers of color layers, halftone screens, and even a photo to cherry off this piece. Its making the rounds already, so I guess folks like it. I like it too, even though the concept is better than the execution.

Robots and Scientists...and space

This week the paper is releasing its Science Issue, and to cover it all we have this sweet image of a friggin' robot. This thing looked pretty cool, but I thought its movement was a little limited. Apparently its a major deal, utilizing the energies of both American and Korean Robotics teams. I seem to remember having a dinosaur robot toy as a kid that did all the stuff this guy did (?) I dont know, thats why I make the pictures.

The photos were taken by our resident photographer Neal Santos (Check his site here for some really nice work), and the text done by a fellow designer. I added color and texture work in photoshop and illustrator, making a very subtle lunar landscape (seen below) and all the stars and space gasses. In the end the cropped shot was used to make room for ad space? I hate that.
